Mahoney's Rip Off

Christine introduced us to the best sandwich known to man - the blackened shrimp po boy with fried green tomatoes and remoulade at Mahoney's on Magazine Street in New Orleans. Feast your eyes on this!

Fooled you! That is actually our re-creation! We grilled our shrimp and baked our "fried green tomatoes" (which taste exactly the same.)

We found the best bread ever called "Just bake it" and we used comeback sauce instead of remoulade, I don't really see a difference between the two...

And here is our nightly selection from the little piece of heaven also known as the Kroger cheese section:

Grazi Bella

In an act of defiance against the Oxford Public Library I circumvented their "policies" and used Joe's library card to rent a book on tape..

GUARANTEED!!!!

I spent a good three weeks of car time learning Italian, and now I am ready for someone to invite me to their Italian Villa!

Although I had to suffer through a few awkward chapters about explaining broken families and remarriages (??? why would you include that??), I did learn the most important phrase I need to know: Une vertro de vino bianco. You can guess what that means. (Also - I did NOT learn to spell Italian from my book on tape, so don't judge.)

Steal!!!

Mr. Ryan may have just had the best eBay purchase ever!!!

You may not know, but he has recently become a big ole first time home-owner, and is partially letting me control any new purchases.

I sent a picture of my all time favorite man-bedroom, and googled the blanket which I somehow knew was Ralph Lauren - it is on sale on the Ralph Lauren website for $149.00. I knew that wouldn't go over well.

I looked around for similar ones, and found this gem on eBay! We stalked the listing and Ryan agreed to pay up to $50 for it...

We won the auction!!! And guess how much we paid...ok I'll tell you, $16.50!!! I am obviously very pleased with myself. Looks like someone is going to have a very stylish bedroom..

Green Thumb

I have been working on my gardening skills:

before...

...after!

Jk, jk. I guess I should have cleaned up the potting soil evidence on the ground. I finally located a new rosemary plant! Let's cross our fingers that it has a long life!

*Let it be known that the "before" rosemary plant lived for almost two years before it turned brown and dry*

There's Always Money in a Banana Stand

I don't have cable at my new apartment so I have been watching a LOT of Arrested Development on dvd...

which may have subconsciously been the reason that I made led these little treats:

Chocolate covered banana bites.. with random toppings

When you freeze them they taste like vanilla ice cream... pretty tricky!

Party McCarty

Last weekend, these lovely people tied the knot in Greenville, SC!

Ann Browning and John!

I traveled with my parents from Birmingham and snoozed in the backseat. We made it to town just in time to go to the rehearsal dinner, which was outside and very relaxed.. LOTS of fun!

Re-enactment of the Easter pic

The next day we moseyed outside of our hotel and there was a super intense farmer's market going on. It reallllyyyy showed Oxford up. Here is a pic that I sent to Ryan from the pepper stand.

every kind of pepper in the world!!

Then we traveled to the main attraction...The world's largest curved pedestrian suspension bridge!

My mom didn't seem to want me in the pic...

View from the bridge

There was a creepy snake-man hanging around he bridge being dangerous with two snakes.

The wedding was short and sweet, and the reception was a blast. They had a great band who played some Carolina beach music- my favorite! Here are some pics from the McCarty party!

Better Late than Never?

Happy Valentine's Day to me! Only a few months late but completely worth the wait! I can't believe I ever used any other hair dryer than this baby. Anyone with hair needs to buy it immediately. A slight investment for a hair dryer, but you will use it every day. AND its on sale here at drugstore.com

The Chi Pro! Greatest gift ever!

This new gift has encouraged me to take a LOT more showers, which is possibly why Joseph gave it to me. BUY IT NOW!! You can thank me later.
