Shrooms

Turning 27 wasn't that great in general, but one very interesting thing did happen... I started to like mushrooms! Now I have to figure out ways to eat them. Mission accepted.

Weekend Update

I have been missing from the blog world for a while, so you are going to get a super quick re-cap of all the weekends up until now! Here goes..

We went to Fairhope for Patrick and Kristie's wedding at Pilot Farms and stayed in the Demeranville's "camp house" with 1000 of our closest friends.

Pretty house! Sorry it's tiny

We finally sent out our Save the Dates, and used my mom's new Mother's Day stamp from Ryan for the return address.

pics coming soon..

My helper.
I think I got carpel tunnel..
but at least we both lived through it.

Unlike someone else

You may have seen this dessert on Pinterest... cookies, oreos, and brownies all smashed together. My boss made it for us at work. Word to the wise...DON'T eat it!!! I felt sick for 24 hours after I did.

I guess there is such a thing as too much dessert

Joe graduated with his MBA! His family came up to help celebrate. I am so proud of him for everything he has done this year, he sure made it look easy!
Sorry Uncle Bill, ,your picture is tiny too!
After dinner on Friday, walking around the Square

I only marry professionals

Cheers to no more classes!

Continuing the celebrating at the Library

Mother's Day breakfast before everyone left town

Tommy and Tracy came to Oxford over Memorial Day to go to a friend's wedding. We had a great time hanging with them... They were not prepared for the college atmosphere, but they sure had a fantastic time!

 Blurry picture - seems fitting

We were bored on Memorial Day since we were the only humans in Oxford, so we entertained ourselves by laying out (until it started pouring rain) and Joe attempted cooking ribs for the first time.

 Success! They were delicious.

We went to Birmingham for the Martina wedding, and spent Saturday at Avondale Brewing Company. Here is our flight of beers..

It was a dog fest all weekend, which made people who don't have a dog very jealous. Here is the cutest one of all, Mr. Duke Jensen!

 New family pic

We got to meet little Libby Nash on Sunday before we left - she is the tiniest and sweetest little baby ever.

She said she wasn't mad at me
for missing her baby shower.

I think that should catch you up! I'm sure I forgot one million things..

Doin Bruin

MBA people like to name their weekends.. and this one was called Doin Bruin. So crazy. We drove four hours to go to Robin's lakehouse and celebrate her birthday for the weekend with a group of people.. I was overly excited about laying out as it was the first chance of the year for me! Lake Bruin is in Louisiana and the place we stayed was in a really small town called (help Joe, I cant remember.) The house was super cool and slept a ton of people.

Joe playing with the electric bug zapper

We got there late Friday night and I woke up early Saturday to get into the sun ASAP. Robin and I were the only early risers and we had a good couple of hours by ourselves to work on our t a n (or maybe I should say work on our pale bodies.)

After everyone got up, some boys went swimming and then we went for a boat ride on their boat that holds one million people. It was kind of a party barge, which I loved. Joe went tubing with Tim, and it turns out they aren't a great team. Some people went skiing. I stayed on the boat because the water was approximately 3 degrees.

Joe and Sean being so chill on the tube

We cooked burgers that night and Joe and I impressed everyone with our cheese plate (of course.) The weekend ended too soon, and the four hour drive home was not very fun. Going to the lake REALLY makes you want to go to the beach!!

Double Decker (prepare to see a lot of pictures of Tim in a woman's tank top)

Last weekend was the Double Decker Arts and Music Festival in Oxford, and Joe was ready to get into festival mode. We went out Friday night and then Saturday walked up to the square to check out all of the arts and crafts for sale.

I tried to act as much like Joe as possible because I am terrible in crowds and don't like touching sweaty strangers. I observed Joe and noticed that he pretty much just walked blindly where he wanted to and when he ran into someone he was like "It's cool brah", so I tried my best to do the same. He said that is how you have to act at a festival. After we looked at everything and ate a snow biz (it was extremelyyy hot) we went back to my house and then headed to The Links for a daiquiri party.

Check out this party attendee:

 Sipping his pink lemonade!

When we were ready to head back up to the square to listen to some music, we made Tim go take a shower and get ready. After about twenty minutes we went to get him, and it appeared that he hadn't done a thing. He assured us that he took a shower and put back on the same clothes.

We saw Mavis Staples sing gospel music and Take a Load Off. Then Tim and I decided to walk into Lenora's and get some wine...

Couldn't get enough of Tim's outfit!!

Later we went to the Round Table where this happened.

We are still icing people?

Long night! Good weekend.

The Best Pork Tenderloin Ever

A horrific thing happened to me and Joe the other week when we realized that our grill ran out of propane. I made a pork tenderloin in the oven that Tracy told me about, and it really was so delicious.

You use a package of dry french onion dip mix for the crust. It was really juicy, and Joe didn't complain about the onion taste once! Success. Let me know if you want the whole recipe!

Calm down - we refilled our propane tank already.

Bachelors and Babies

Joe moseyed on down to his beach house in Mary Esther this weekend for Patrick's bachelor party, while I stayed in Oxford because I was going to Blakeley's baby shower in Birmingham on Saturday.

Friday, as I was leaving work it was such nice weather and my friend asked me to go to the Ole Miss baseball game with her. I am no baseball fan, but I do love drinking wine outside, so I agreed. Not long after we settled into our seats, the beautiful weather started changing to cloudy and dark.. Everyone kept showing me their weather maps and asking me what I thought about the radar so I just agreed with their optimistic outlooks. Turns out they were way off because it started pouring rain and they cancelled the baseball game. We went to the Burgundy Room and ran into a bunch of MBA people and we all stayed out too late. I walked home with my lame foot and got a ride from my neighbors who happened to be driving by (they probably felt sorry for the lame kid.)

Soaking wet trying to "wait it out"

We gave up and went to B Room - fine by me!

The next morning I woke up to take a shower and get a gift before going to Birmingham, and I took all of my medicine, which was about equivalent to what a 90 year old man takes every day. My foot hurt worse then ever and long story short, I missed the baby shower. I hope baby Libby isn't too mad at me. Blakeley is due at the end of May, but is already 2.5 cm dilated!! She is a ticking time bomb!

Sorry to report that there are no pictures from the Bachelor Party. It's probably better that the world does not see those anyway..

Being Lame

Lance Armstrong really screwed me over by making these tennis shoes.

I bought them on a pit stop on our way back to Oxford from Knoxville when there was a Dick's Sporting Goods store by our Panera Bread. Joe was dyyyinngg to go in there and I needed some new tenny boppers anyway. I picked these out really quick and tried them on and they felt fine.

Once I started wearing them at home, however, I noticed that they felt really weird on my arch but everyone told me that I would get used to it. A few weeks ago, I ran on the treadmill at my gym and woke up the next morning with a weird pain in my foot. I decided it would go away on its own, so I just ignored it. After a few days I realized that I was lame (we looked up the definition - crippled, especially in the foot) and Joe was getting embarrassed of my limp.

I went to the doctor thinking that I had a stress fracture, but she decided it was all because of my tennis shoes!! She told me to take Aleve and wear different shoes. It took two weeks, but my foot is finally starting to feel better! I was getting scared that I would be limping forever and become handicapped like fat Tabitha from Tommy's work. Tabitha refused to walk down the stairs when there was a fire alarm and said that fire fighters had to come up and carry her down because she was "handicapped" (fat.) LUCKILY, I am almost back to normal and will never buy tennis shoes because they look cool again. Lesson learned.
