A Real-Life Halloween Nightmare

The scariest thing ever happened to us the other day when we opened Joe's front door and there was a huge tarantula trying to run inside and gain entry to the apartment. We both freaked out, and when Joe realized that I wasn't going to do anything to help the situation (except scream out orders to MURDER IT!!!!)- he was forced to take action and he stomped it. In a terrifying turn of events- the spider immediately had 1 million little babies run out from its dead body!!!!! I think about half of them came inside, so I need to find out how long they take to grow into adults, and then never come back to Joe's house again.

I tried to google a "before/alive" image of the spider so you could be scared too, but my skin started crawling when the images popped up.

Here is what is left of him, with a chicken finger next to him for size comparison.

HAHAHHA, NO we didn't actually think it would be helpful to compare the mega-spider to a chicken finger, but it was left there by a little kid playing after the football game yesterday and I thought, why not? When in Rome?

Ron Weasley would be mortified.

I can't get enough of Sophia Grace...

you're welcome.

SCHOOL

I had midterms the other week! GROSS!!! Luckily, one of them consisted of just hanging up all of our pictures that we have done in class so far, here is mine:

And here is a little sneak peak of my new art project:

Yep, we do a lot of cutting and pasting, and playing with construction paper.

Im happy to report that I am a straight A student after the midterms!!

Diablo

That title should be "Grouper Diablo", but Joe claims that they do not have grouper in Oxford, MS, so we had to use tilapia.. Thanks to Mr. Granade for sending us a new recipe!

Here is the spice rub for the fish...

And the finished product! We didn't make the black bean cakes since Joe's house is a "no-fry zone" after the latke incident....

The name is no joke, this is H O T!!!!!! I loved it though. Joe was tearing up a little.

Joe's plate usually contains avocados no matter what else we are having!

I can't figure out how to make this any bigger, so if you want the recipe I will email it to you!

Weekend Updates

It's been a while since I blogged, so I will try and catch up in this one post!

After Labor Day, Bryan came to visit and we went to our first Ole Miss football game of the season.

Riding the double decker bus to the grove!

We will just say that someone got really excited about college and the Auburn game in the grove... (I heard someone screaming "FRANK THE TANK!" at one point)

Hotty Toddy!

Bryan scores a free ticket

Ole Miss wins!

The next weekend we traveled to Birmingham for a Stock the Bar party for Tracy and Tommy. We had it at Scott's new house, which looks amazing. He has a Wolf cooking range!!!! What a lucky duck!

So much fun!

~~~
The next weekend, we planned to go to the Ole Miss vs Georgia game at home, but my dad called with Alabama vs Arkansas tickets and we didn't think twice!
Goodbye Oxford! On our way to see the Tide play!
Thank goodness for Casey Ginder still living in Tuscaloosa, we immediately invited ourselves to stay with him. Joe took the only picture of the weekend, but trust me- we had a blast!
~~~
The next weekend, Joseph traveled to Destin to have a ton of fun at Tommy's bachelor party,

While I stayed in Oxford and did this:

That horrific image is my desk at work

I had two weeks of pure misery at work where we had to go through a process for every file folder of every student who applied to Ole Miss in the past year. I am trying to block out that period of my life permanently from my brain. What a mess!!!!!

~~~
The next weekend was the Alabama vs Ole Miss game, and Kathy, Tommy, Ryan and Melissa came to town to visit. We went to Taylor Grocery...
Where we learned that they were no longer taking guests because the wait was three hours and it was already 8 pm.
So we moseyed back to Oxford and went to Snackbar.
The next day we went to the grove and to the game, where Alabama dominated the poor Rebs.
Chason came to visit for the weekend too! He brought his own meatloaf and boiled eggs..
Roll Tide!
My mom left the best presents ever..Pollman's cookies and crab claws! Me and Joe shared them 60/40.
Monstrous!
~~~
This weekend, we went to Justin's birthday party Friday night, and Joe went to the Ole Miss game Saturday, where they almost won! I think they will take that one as a W.

OK, now that we are caught up to date, lets hope I don't slack off again!

Happy Fall from Oxford!

Joe's festive doorway - that mum has been alive for three weeks! It's a Halloween miracle

Thanks mom!

Man vs. Santa Fe Soup

And of course, the best part of Fall is football!

I am obviously late with this post, it already feels like winter! Yuck. There was frost on my windshield last week when I tried to go to work, so of course I have to wait 20 minutes for my car defroster to work! I may need to get a windshield scraper... Is it summer yet?

Big Man on Campus

In case you haven't heard, I'm a pretty big deal around Ole Miss. The paparazzi recently snapped a picture of me as I was drawing in the grove for my art class and put it in the school newspaper.

I guess you could say I'm a local celebrity now.
