People had been trying to scare us about the drive up the Amalfi Coast since we announced we were going to attempt it. I'm actually extremely glad that they did because I was expecting the worst. Maybe we were extra 'hard' after leaving Naples, but we didn't think it was that terrible. It was no piece of cake, but it was also no Naples.
The roads were super narrow in parts and you did have to squeeeeeze through when someone was coming from the other way, especially if it was a tour bus. I didn't like taking the curves because you never knew if someone was coming from the other direction and taking up the whole road.
We were pretty nervous and slow at first, but Joe got comfortable and cocky and started driving faster like everyone else. We followed this guy for a while who made a nice path for us:
squeezing
uh oh
We drove through a lot of little towns on the coast during the hour and a half-ish drive to Amalfi.
It was no good when pedestrians thought that they should add to the narrowness of the road, and when cars would parallel park on the side. Did they really think that there was extra room to begin with?!?
come onnnnnnnn
We reached Amalfi right as the sun was setting, and drove allllll the way to the top of the town to reach our hotel, The Excelsior! SO happy to arrive and get out of the car!!!
